About the event
July Film Series features 4 films from different perspectives about World War II.Â
- From Russian director Andrei Maliukov, "We Are From the Future", a 2008 film about four Russian students that dig for World War II trophies and travel back in time to 1942.
- From Italian director, Roberto Benigni, "Life is Beautiful", a 1997 film about surviving the horrors of the Holocaust through humor and imagination.
- From American director, Liev Schreiber, "Everything is Illuminated", a 2005 film about a young Jewish man's travels to Ukraine to discover more about his Grandfather and what happened to him during the Holocaust.
- From German director, Robert Schwentke, "The Captain", a 2018 film about a army deserter, the Captain's uniform he finds, and the authority it bestows on him.
