Charles City Arts Center: July Update and Recap

CHARLES CITY, Iowa - We are excited to announce that on July 15th from 5-7pm we are hosting an opening reception for our new "Town of Colors" mural artists who will be getting underway soon on some brand new public art! We are soooo lucky to have that!

You can meet both Matt Litwin and Britt Flood at the free event AND enjoy appetizers and beverages. Hope you can make it!





 

Our July exhibit titled "Beyond the Mythic and Mundane" is up for a couple more weeks. Paintings, prints and ceramics from 3 artists - Alexis Beuclar, Elizabeth Powell, and Emily Magnuson. We posted a few photos from the July 1st reception to our Instagram and Facebook ...and even a posted a live Facebook video.

We also started a monthly radio segment on KCHA where we will be talking about the upcoming exhibit and classes. It will be on around 8:07am on the first Friday of every month.

The July film series is underway. Europe In Flames: Perspectives of WWll still has 3 dates left- July 12, 19, 26. The cost is $5 per film. Each screening opens with a presentation and ends with a bit of discussion.



 

If you have a toddler and want to have a bit of fun, we have a class on July 12th from 10-11am called Doodlebugs. Ages 2-4. Tuition is $40 for non-members and $30 for members. Information and sign up is available in the "classes" section of this website. You can also call or stop in the arts center anytime during open hours for the same. Our hours are W-F 1-5pm and Sat 10-2pm.


 

Last but not least - keep August 20th open for the 49th annual Art-A-Fest! It will take place in Central Park directly across from the Arts Center from 10am to 4pm. It will be a fun-filled day with interactive arts activities for kids, live performances, and lots of food. And of course, lots of art!
