CHARLES CITY, Iowa - We missed you! We really, really did.
We are now once again open and active in our pursuit to better our community through art and the lessons that the arts teach. Our hope is that 2023 will be an extraordinary year for all the art lovers in our community.
And... the way we started this art season off was spectacular! If you were at the opening reception on Friday February 3rd for our current exhibit, then you know.
What a great night!
The current exhibit is a collection of works done by Black artists on loan from Waterloo Center for the Arts.
The exhibit is a group of around 40 works. It is a gathering of voices that we hoped would honor and celebrate Black History Month. Work from artists that are celebrated within the art world and that are otherwise seen in museums and University collections around the US - places like Whitney Museum of American Art.

We currently have a couple classes going at the arts center.
John Guthart is teaching a drawing and painting class on Thursdays from 4-5PM. The cost is just $10 per class. It is an excellent opportunity to stretch your creative legs.
You can sign up HERE or stop in and do it in person. Cool idea and I hope its well attended.
And... February Fun taught by Meredith Hamm. This class is already going, but maybe if you are interested, its not too late to at least do the last 2 parts of the 3 part class. Maybe?
Membership is an important part of our lives here at CCARTS. A single membership is $35 and a family membership is $65. If you haven't signed up for 2023 yet you can do so right HERE. Or stop in and say "Hello" and let us help. We love seeing your smiling faces.
Open Studio hours this year are still just 10-2PM on Saturday, but we are looking at adding 5-9PM on Wednesdays into the equation. We have a few people signed up and using the space. We want to see more!
