CHARLES CITY, Iowa (March 4, 2023) - The year of 2023 is off to a stellar beginning and we could not be happier here at your favorite arts center.
This past week, Emily and I boxed up the February exhibit of Black Artists work on loan from Waterloo Center for the Arts. It was a massive undertaking and we are both happy its done, but sad that its gone. It was a really cool show.
On Wednesday Chawne and Elizabeth came and picked up the art. They are both super kind people and it was great to meet them and work with them on the exhibit.
And on to the new...
Our newest exhibit is up and embracing March with open arms.
"Prismacolor Diary: Works by Deborah Dvorak" is an exhibit of complex and colorful Prismacolor works.
Deborah lives in Wisconsin these days, but grew up in Iowa. She spent some time in the Pacific Northwest before coming back to the Midwest.
The opening reception sponsored by Tellurian Brewing took place on Friday March 3rd, but if you missed that, fear not - the exhibit will be up through the month.
AND INTRODUCING... SUPER VOLUNTEER JESSE!!!
Our volunteer of the month/quarter is Jesse Griffen!
Jesse has been super busy working on getting our pottery studio cleaned and organized. Jesse has been coming in every week when his work schedule allows, to take the lead on this massive job. Jesse is a cool guy too. Great sense of humor.
We are very thankful for his dedication to our mission.
We are overjoyed to have a few folks using our pottery room as of late and we have been thinking about adding Thursday night from 5-8 to the Open Studio hours. Jesse is helping us get organized for more people.
The cost is $25 for members and $35 for non-members. If you are interested, feel free to stop in and check out the space.

I chat with Chris and Kay about all things Arts Center - its on around 8:07AM. It is super fun.
Our March class is underway.
We are so thankful that Meredith teaches these classes. The kids love her! Keep your eyes peeled on the Internet for our April classes.
