CHARLES CITY, Iowa (October 2022) - A new show is up and another reception sponsored by First Security Bank and Trust is in the books. Thank you to all who came and made our artists - Genevra Daley and Dorian Dean - feel welcomed.
If you missed the opening, have no fear! The show will be up all month.
I THINK the idea behind the installation is to take common items and arrange them in a way that might make them uncommon. Give them a different meaning or to have them understood differently.
From their statement:
"By placing different art objects together in varying combinations Dean and Daley explore our experiences of domestic objects and their relationship to our bodies, the processes of play, and the dynamic between use and used."

MONSTER BASH!!!!
We are looking forward to Monster Bash on Saturday October 29th. The Event will be held at the Elks Lodge at 2111 Clark St. here in CC. We have a band, The Love Radishes, from the Mason City area. As well, there will be cash prizes for costumes, a 50/50 raffle, dinner and drinks available for purchase, and a shuttle bus in case one might overdo the drinks.
And don't forget that costume!
Tickets are $10 and all proceeds benefit the Arts Center. Tickets can be purchased at the door or online through our website.

We have a couple classes coming up soon as well.
October 14, 21,and 28 at the Arts Center we have kids art classes taught by Meredith Hamm. The cost is $45 for members and $55 for non-members.
Also, a photography tips and tricks class taught by Karl Haglund (me). Cost is $35 for members and $40 for those not a member. It will consist of an hour roughly of "class" and an hour of shooting outside together. Just things I have picked up over the years. Little things, big things. Saturday Oct 15th from 2-4PM.
