Origami and Works Now Showing!

Writer: Erik GordonErik Gordon

Its getting closer to the end of the month, but I wanted to drop a few notes about the current exhibits and the months activities. With two artists this month we have double the awesome to apply to your eyeholes! We also had a great time hanging out for the Charles City Spirit Drive on the 4th.

Due to the pandemic that's been changing the ways we do almost anything, we were lucky to find not one but two artists.

Abby Harting

The first artist I'd like to spotlight is Abby Harting. This young artist is as charming and fun as well as talented. These intricate origami pieces need to be seen close up, but you can also watch a brief video with info and prices with the artist here. https://www.facebook.com/emily.kiewel/videos/10158573022463686

Victor Pedelty

Victor had a bit of an adventure even getting to Charles City. After a connecting Flight was canceled on his way from Florida! The selected pieces are a cornucopia of color and I could look at them for hours. A video tour with the artist and the Arts Center staff is here https://www.facebook.com/CHARLES-CITY-ARTS-CENTER-71045393644/videos

Our Independence Day was a bit different as well. The arts Center is directly along the parade route, and I love to watch from the windows in an air conditioned gallery. not so much this year. Instead of a parade the people came to us and the other businesses that participated. We had the building decked out and handed out bags of art supplies and a little bit of candy to the youngsters that were driven by. Also set up were a pair of socially distanced banners for people to paint their patriotic hearts out.

Be safe out there and if you're up for it please stop in and check out the current show!
