CHARLES CITY, Iowa - April came and went quickly. A lot happened! (Apologies for the headline)
We hosted the high school art show and as always saw a huge crowd for the opening reception. It was great to see what the young people have been working on all year and also great to see all the supportive parents come check out the art.
Teacher Brian Bohlen installing the high school show:
On Saturday April 20th we held our Spring Global Cafe at the Elks Club. It was a great foodie event with dishes like taco soup from Mexico, karythopita (spiced walnut cake) from Greece, chorizo bacon dates from Spain, while also serving more well known items like a lasagna representing Italy and Korean pork from Korea.
The event is a member favorite.
Some photos from the event:
In May we opened a show by our very own Karl Haglund, me. I called the exhibit "Game Plans etc: Through The Fog, Then Down" after a song my friend Will Johnson wrote for his band Centro-matic. The title got stuck in my head and I ended up doing a series of paintings of the same name.
I didn’t get any photos at the reception, but here are a few I took today:
June exhibit!
Next month the exhibit will be a doubleheader of sorts. Artist Joan Estlund brings her digital art prints and her guitar! Arts show and live music. Joan is super talented and performs under the stage name Juni West. Mark your calendars! Friday June 7th, 5-7PM.
