October Country
Traci Utley Traci Utley Face of a Tiger It's the first week of October and that means new exhibit time! We have a great new show up for you to cuddle up to by Traci Utley. Traci has been quilting for over 35 years. She says she started with traditional quilts for family and friends. About 14 years ago she was ready for a change in style and started Mosaic Quilting. This exhibit shows some of the fruits of that labor. Here are a few more examples. Charlie Chaplin Monarch But

Expanding Interior
September's exhibit is up, and its kind of a big deal. Anastasia Chloe keys 2019 Cyanotype Anastasia Chloe Anastasia is the artist behind this months exhibit. She is a graduate of UNI and currently is the photographer for the art gallery at her alma mater. Even cooler for this Arts Center is that she is a local and has been around the Charles City Arts Center for a good part of her life. It's quite gratifying to see one of our own come back and have a show. It's exhilarat

News and a New Addition
A New Addition to our Permanent Collection We have had this lovely quilt by Janet Pittman, donated to us by her son Robert. "Carnegie Legacy" was made in June 2016 for the Iowa Art Quilters Historical Buildings Challenge. I might be biased but I think it should have won grand prize. This piece can be viewed in our "library" room alongside some of our 3D art collection. Thanks Robert for the great addition. Art-A-Fest Update Well another Art-A-Fest is in the books! Thank you

Origami and Works Now Showing!
Its getting closer to the end of the month, but I wanted to drop a few notes about the current exhibits and the months activities. With two artists this month we have double the awesome to apply to your eyeholes! We also had a great time hanging out for the Charles City Spirit Drive on the 4th. Due to the pandemic that's been changing the ways we do almost anything, we were lucky to find not one but two artists. Abby Harting The first artist I'd like to spotlight is Abb

We Are Open! And have gorgeous Art!
Covid-19 is dampening my spirits. Visits to the Charles City Arts Center have been way down due to the pandemic. We did close for a couple of months starting in March but opened again mid-May with safety protocols in place. It greatly saddens me that our current exhibit has gotten very few views but understand the need for people to stay safe. Let me just share a bit about our current exhibit, which is actually two shows! It is fine art photography by Craig Kienast from Clea
